Room Swap, which currently has 367 members in 57 countries, was founded by Iain Fenwick and Patty Harrison in May 2010 after they recognised the success of similar home-swapping schemes.
Room Swap members are owners of B&Bs, guest houses, hotels and holiday accommodation with the majority located in the UK, Spain, France and the United States.
Room Swap recommends that its members organise the swap themselves, but the free overnight stays can be enjoyed by friends, family or as a way of rewarding staff. The swap does not have to take place at the same time. The benefits of becoming a Room Swap member are summarised as follows:
“Everyone who does the swaps is in the same industry – mostly independent and family-run businesses - so we are creating a community that can get inspiration and learn fresh things from each other. It’s amazing how many of our members are now communicating via Twitter,” says Fenwick.
Institute of Hospitality members can take advantage of the discount by emailing: ioh@room-swap.com
