Kitchen staff needed to help homeless

Specialist volunteers are needed to donate their services to help homeless people in London as part of Crisis at Christmas, from 23 December to 30 December 2011.

Up to nine temporary centres will be set up in London by Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people. The catering service requires over 300 volunteers to keep the kitchens running and provide guests with hot meals each day. In 2010 Crisis served over 25,000 meals across all centres.

The minimum requirement for every kitchen volunteer is a level 2 food safety award. For those who do not have this qualification, Crisis is running a number of one-day courses on some weekend days from October to December.

You can access the dates and book a place on a course when you apply to volunteer on-line. Crisis asks that every volunteer signs up for a minimum of two shifts on two separate days.
