BaxterStorey success with Institute of Hospitality Diploma

A group of BaxterStorey employees are amongst those celebrating completing their Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management at Westminster Kingsway College.

The Institute of Hospitality Level 3 Diploma programme has attracted supervisors and assistant managers from hotels, contract catering and private member clubs. The unitised management programme includes the study of marketing, HR, finance, business strategy, communication, and problem-solving and is directly related to workplace practices.

wkc_photo1This year at Westminster Kingsway College there were 24 graduates, including 15 from BaxterStorey. Steven Wain, a BaxterStorey employee, was also named Diploma Student of the Year at the graduation ceremony on 14 October.

He was promoted in his job at Withers Law firm in the City of London and feels the course has given him new-found confidence in his work: “I applied for the course as I hadn’t studied before. We learnt about management skills and appraisals and it was very motivating as we could relate this back to our working lives. The tutor from Westminster Kingsway was really inspirational and it was great to network with others from BaxterStorey.”

All of the candidates were working while studying but were able to benefit from the flexible learning provided by the Institute of Hospitality’s online resources, with students able to access more than 400 e-Books and 50 e-Journals that support the units through the Institute’s Education Membership Scheme.
