Carbon Footprints

The Carbon Trust

The Carbon Trust was set up by Government in 2001 as an independent company. Its mission is to accelerate the move to a low carbon economy by working with organisations to reduce carbon emissions and develop commercial low carbon technologies.

The Carbon Trust website contains publications, information and tools for business including an online calculator to help your organisation calculate its carbon footprint. The basic footprint indicator provides a rough estimate of your organisation's carbon emissions based on your company's energy bill and sector. For further information contact the Carbon Trust at: 0800 085 2005 (UK Only) or visit the Carbon Trust website at: www.carbontrust.co.uk

Hospitable Climates

Hospitable Climates was launched nationally in 2000 as an energy efficiency agreement between the Institute of Hospitality and the Government. This resulted in an energy advisory programme, supported by the Carbon Trust and managed by the Institute of Hospitality on behalf of the Hospitable Climates network until funding for the programme concluded in 2007.

The Institute of Hospitality no longer manages the Hospitable Climates programme or its legacy website and cannot provide HC information.

Currently, the Institute provides its members with exclusive access to green resources - including ebooks and ejournals on greener management and sustainability - as well as referral to external resources such as the Carbon Trust.

Non-members of the Institute are encouraged to consider membership if they wish to access the Institute's resources by contacting: membership@instituteofhospitality.org
